A Turks and Caicos Vacation

One of the destinations that I get a lot of inquiries about is Turks and Caicos.  People are drawn to the image of stepping foot on the beautiful beaches of the Caribbean and experiencing a new place and culture.  Turks and Caicos has plenty to offer whether you are young or old, vacationing with kids or without, or looking for an adventurous vacation or one with more of a relaxed vibe.

The first question is, how do you get there?  Turks & Caicos is located in the Caribbean, just southeast of the Bahamas.  A direct flight from Atlanta will take about 2 hours so with connecting flights the total trip is a little over 4 hours for most parts of the U.S.

The second question is, now that you are there where should you stay?  I've broken down some of the top Turks and Caicos resorts into all-inclusive, family friendly, or adult only.

All-Inclusive

Beach House Turks and Caicos

East Bay Resort

Alexandra Resort

Beaches Turks and Caicos

Family Friendly

Beaches Turks and Caicos

The Sands at Grace Bay

The Palms Turks and Caicos

The Shore Club Turks and Caicos

Adults Only

Club Med

Beach House Turks and Caicos

Grace Bay Club (not completely adults-only but does have an adults-only pool and restaurant)

Now that you've arrived in Turks and Caicos and unpacked your bags, the third question is, what do you do?  Turks and Caicos offers beaches, cays, and reefs - oh my!  You could spend your whole vacation beach hopping to take in the breathtaking beauty of the island.  Many of the beaches offer water activities like snorkeling, kiteboarding, catamaran sailing, and cruises for pleasure or to snorkel.

If you love sightseeing and exploring, Turks and Caicos won't disappoint.  Be sure to check out the Turks and Caicos National Museum, Cheshire Hall, and the Conch Bar Caves.  At the Turks and Caicos National Museum you can learn about the history of the island.  Cheshire Hall is the site of a former British plantation and tells the history of the Loyalists who moved to the islands during the Revolutionary War.  Conch Bar Caves is the largest above-ground cave system in the Bahamas-Turks and Caicos islands archipelago.

If physical activity is a must for your vacation, you can take a beachside horseback ride or take in a round of golf at the Provo Golf Club.  You can explore the island on a guided ATV Tour or a scuba diving excursion.
